Speeches, tea and coffee, “Planting techniques to improve survival rates and establishment” demonstration, competition winners announced. Garden for Wildlife celebrations will take place 9:15-10am.

Alice Springs Landcare Community Field day

Alice Springs Landcare

Greening Australia and Alice Springs Landcare are pleased to invite you to a community field day on the banks of the Todd River this Sunday 5th October.

Meet at Casa Nostra carpark 9am. Write this in your diaries now!

Activities: rubbish removal, maintenance of past plantings and buffel control around remnant vegetation and Old Red Gum Trees.

Bring: Hat, sunscreen, water bottle, mug, rug/chair, gloves and any spare tools. Supervision and training provided on the day

Hang around afterwards for a BBQ and the inaugural Annual General Meeting of Alice Springs Landcare.

This is the chance you have been waiting for to get your hands dirty and help look after the unique environment of Alice Springs.

Native Plants for Central Australian Gardens

Greening Australia's fabulous new book "Native Plants for Central Australian Gardens" co-authored by Andy Vinter (of the Threatened Species Network) and Felicity Forth is now available.

Beautifully and simply presented, over 100 spectacular arid region plants and helpful gardening tips and advice, this book will help gardeners and landscapers establish their own Central Australian native gardens. The local plants featured will survive with little water or fertiliser, they are attractive and will bring wildlife into your garden.
